What is the consensus opinion on the planet the yautja come from? I have heard several theories, one of them being that they are from a very hot, desert-like planet. Though this would make some sense, as the predators seem to only come to hot areas.
However, to me this seems like this answer doesn't quite fit. Wouldn't such a climate almost completely negate the chances of the evolution of their well-known heat vision? They would have so much difficulty distinguishing patterns in a high-heat environment.
Also, in Predator I and AvP: Requiem, the yautja seem very well adapted to the trees of the forest. Their climbing ability, though partially merely a testament to their strength and agility, might also stem from an evolutionary trait from living in and amongst trees.
One or both of these would imply differences from the traditional view. I personally keep picturing them in a jungle-type environment as in Predator I.
I am not quite sure of the area it shows in AvP:R as Wolf is departing. While some are convinced that is the homeworld, I am not convinced. It seemed a bit too desolate for such an advanced race, and it could very well be somewhere else he just happened to be when he received notice of the outbreak. (Which would explain how he managed to get there so fast)
On a related note, I remember at one point hearing of a book or comic that made reference to the "Tribeworlds," implying there was more than one planet they originated from.

The main theories are that.
If we talk about the infrared vision; is not a defect or something impossible for hot climates as there are several rankings of infrared and the bodies of living creatures interact with the environment reaching a thermal balance.
For example:
If the body is warmer than its surroundings, reduces its temperature, as the speed with which emits energy exceeds the speed with which absorbs. When reached thermal balance the speed of emission and absorption are the same.
What we have seen in AVPR is the official representation of the world as the Predator films are the main source of information about the creatures. In my point of view is a worthy representation (if not the best, something acceptable)
